In Wordpress Website

You must be very excited about your brand new WordPress website.  After playing with different themes and plugins for a few days, you don’t know what to do next.  It seems like you buy a brand new house, but do not have many things to fill in this house.  How to make your new WordPress website stand out among thousands of new websites popping up each day is a challenge.   Well, I am going to list 5 essential things you should do after you set up your new WordPress website in this blog.

#1: Find your niche market and do a thorough keyword search

When you first build your WordPress website, most of you have an idea of what you want to do with this new website.  However, the idea may be too general and vague.  For example, you may be interested in health and fitness.  But this is a very broad topic. You need to narrow it down to a more specific niche.  Because no niche means no business!  Here it comes the keyword search.  I can not emphasize enough the importance of doing keyword search in our Internet Marketing Training courses. A niche keyword is the one that has a good number of searches but little or moderate competition.  When you do keyword search, do not use “Broad” search because it tends to over estimate the traffic.  A keyword of 1000 or more monthly exact or phrase searches is a good place to start. In addition to the monthly search volume, you also need to find out the trend of this keyword and where the searches are mainly from.

#2: Create fresh, quality and original content

Everyone knows that Google loves fresh and original content. The fresh and original content attract search engines like fresh bait. Find out what people are interested in these days in your niche by searching on Google and start to write good content on those topics. Before you write your blog, do keyword search first because you don’t want to write something that nobody is interested in or outdated. A blog of 400-500 words is a good length. If you have a business and you are too busy to write blog on a regular basis, hire someone from eLance do it for you. It costs about $4-10 for an article of 500 words. But you have to know specifically what you need from the contractor.

#3: Pay attention to on-page SEO

When you write your content, you need to follow the on-page SEO rules. Here are some of them: a) Include your keyword in your headline, description and file name. b) Use your keyword in h1, h2 and h3 headings. c) Your keyword should appear in the first paragraph and first sentences. d) Your keyword should appear in the last sentence and last paragraph. e) You should include an image with an ALT tag that has your main keyword. These rules sound pretty tedious for beginner. As a matter of fact, Google uses over 200 on-page factors to evaluate a web page. Luckily, you don’t have to remember them all.
